US Vice President Kamala Harris to Visit Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia to Boost Ties

United States Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, are set to embark on a historic trip to Africa, with their first stop being Ghana on 25 March. From there, the couple will travel to

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Lusaka, Zambia, where they will meet with government officials, civil society leaders, and other stakeholders.

This visit marks the Vice President's first trip to Africa since taking office in January 2021, and it comes at a critical time for the continent.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on Africa, with many countries struggling to vaccinate their populations and maintain their economies.

During her visit, Vice President Harris will focus on strengthening economic ties between the US and Africa, as well as addressing global health issues, climate change, and promoting democracy and human rights.

The Vice President's visit also builds on the recent U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit hosted by President Biden in Washington in December 2022, which was attended by leaders from across the continent.

In Ghana, Vice President Harris and her husband will meet with President Nana Akufo-Addo and other government officials to discuss issues of mutual interest, including economic development, trade, and security.
