Mark Okraku-Mantey warns Nana Ama McBrown

Mark Okraku-Mantey warns Nana Ama McBrown over her actions on United Showbiz.

Ghana’s deputy minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey cautions Nana Ama McBrown. He warned her about how she hosts United Showbiz on UTV.

According to him, Nana Ama McBrown allows her guests on the show peddle defamatory comments while she sat aloof. The countless allegations being leveled against others on her show are getting out of hand.

Moreover, the actress usually fails to issue a disclaimer when such statements are made. This he says would land her and the Despite Media in serious trouble if any of the victims take her on.

Meanwhile, Mark Okraku doubted Nana Ama McBrown is quite ignorant about her job as the host. However, he was sure she was ignorant in condoning such acts on her show. Besides, ignorance is not an excuse, the law says.

“Nana Ama McBrown, my sister. The job you have involved yourself, if you want to do it and do it right, please be mindful. The defamatory comments people usually say about others on the show, correct it, so we don’t come back here. I won’t say she doesn’t have enough knowledge about what she does but a lot has been said on the show that if victims want to take her on, she would go to court every day”

What she doesn’t know is if someone says such things on your show, ans you don’t issue a disclaimer, you have also done a repeated publication during the defamation. You can be sued together with Despite Media,” he said.

The deputy minister made these pronouncements during a discussion on Peace FM’S Entertainment Review Show.

PRESEC Legon celebrates NSMQ 2022 winners

Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) Legon held a procession to welcome its 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) winners to the school on 28th November 2022.

The students, John Anim Tenkorang, Alfred Ken Nsiah, and Austin, represented the school in this year’s 2022 National Science and Maths quiz organised by Prime Time Limited, were given a rousing welcome as they were driven to the school by their Board Chairman, Dr. Ernest Ofori

The keenly contested quiz saw Presec Legon pull a surprise by beating its arch-rivals Prempeh College and Adisadel Colleges respectively.

Speaking at the programme after the trophy was handed over to the headmaster of the school, Mr. David Odjidja noted that Presec Legon is a school of excellence and that they have worked hard for this remarkable feat.

He intimated that the ‘Seven a Living God’ Mantra does not only mean that they’ve won the contest for the seventh time, it also meant that they are poised to win their eighth trophy to enable them ‘Celebr8t’ in the 2023 contest, God

The Board Chairman of the school, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong noted that he was heartbroken when the school lost the contest last year, and he vowed to give his utmost support to the team to win this year’s contest.

He seized the opportunity to thank all stakeholders who played a part in achieving what he calls a sweet victory.

Speaking on behalf of the Parents Teachers Association, the school’s PTA Chairman, Prof. Samuel Oheneba Dornyo hinted that he was not fazed given their shaky start during the contest.  He was of the strong conviction that, they will win and that the PTA had offered all the necessary support to the contestants.

It was a joyous moment for the students and alumni of the school. They say that indeed, they are still ‘Seven a Living God’ and hoping to ‘Celebr8t’ the eighth next

WHY I LEFT ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK – Sulley Muntari

In a recent interview, celebrated footballer, Sulley Muntari explained why he decided not to sign a contract extension with the Phobians after aiding Accra Hearts of Oak win the FA Cup and advance to the 2022–2023 CAF Confederations Cup.

Hearts’ six-month contract was cancelled after unsuccessful attempts to renew it. The former AC Milan and Inter Milan star has at last explained why he chose not to extend his contract with Hearts.

The former Sunderland midfielder gave suggestions for how to improve the team for their African campaign, but they were ineffective, he claimed. He continued by saying that he decided to leave the team because he never wanted to damage his reputation.

He shared this thought when he spoke to Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV in an interview.

“Yeah, I had a few talks with them(Kotoko) I spoke to some board members because I wanted to help them in Africa. (But) I was with Hearts of Oak at that time. My contract had run out and I was talking with them to build a very, very strong team.

I didn’t want to go and disgrace myself in the African campaign. If you qualify for the CAF Champions League or any other CAF competition or even Europe, you prepare for that. You augment the squad that you qualified with some good players and build the team.”

“So I was talking with Hearts to build the team but the management had different ideas. And if someone has a different idea, although you tell them to do stuff, if they don’t want to do it, you don’t push it. I’ll tell you the truth, I didn’t want to go and disgrace myself.

And I know I’ve really worked hard in terms of football, so for me to come and let some little things wipe all the work that I’ve done, no. I won’t do it, no. So I was talking with Kotoko about the same(thing),” he added.

He stressed that his effort to join Kotoko was not motivated by Hearts’ rejection of his model recommendations.

“It is not because Hearts didn’t do as I said that’s why I wanted to go to Kotoko, no. But even if it’s second division, it’s the same mentality I would come up with, so you can build a strong team. Because the moment you build a strong team, the following year you can sell two or three players then you get money then you build the team again. Most of the teams we played in Europe that’s what they do.”

GHANA’S BAD ECONOMY IS DUE TO OUR RELIANCE ON FOREIGN GOODS – Vice President, Bawumia Speaks

Vice President of the nation Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has outlined the causes of the economic recession in the country currently.

According to the recognized economist, Ghana is solely to blame for its current predicament.

This assertion was made by the vice president of Ghana during his speech at the Accra-based Standard Chartered Digital Banking Innovation & Fintech Festival.

He continued by implying that it would be exceedingly difficult to restart the economy without public engagement due to the government’s historically high trade surpluses.

He said;

“The nature of production needs to change. You are seeing Ghana, consistently over the last five years, having more and more trade surpluses. This is like for the first time in about twenty years that we’ve consistently had trade surpluses on our balance of payments. At the same time, we have a lot of current accounts deficits, which means that a lot of the foreign exchange that we are earning from our trade doesn’t stay in Ghana.”

“And one of the areas where we have to address is to reduce the import dependency that we have as a country. But as the global economy is going to realign to the new reality with more self-reliance, Ghana cannot be left behind. We also have to look very closely at how we enhance domestic production and reduce dependence on imports for commodities that we can very easily produce here in Ghana.”

Sam George, a member of parliament for Ningo-Prampram, has given Ghanaians advice on how to handle the country’s economic situation.

Sam George asserts that with Ghana’s current economic woes, it will be unusual for anyone to sleep soundly in Ghana.

Sam George argued that no typical Ghanaian will be able to sleep through the night without waking up to shout “eeei” during a discussion on Metro TV.

Kwesi if you go to bed at maybe 10:00 pm and you can sleep till 6:00 am in this country then you have sleeping sickness“.

He added that “because you are wondering how you will make ends meet … because look, it is fearful“.

Sam George’s remark in the video below has now elicited conflicting responses on social media.

Very true… me ampaa I could sleep aaa till 12 pm on weekends….. these days by 2:30 am I’m awake afei na ato plans,” an Instagrammer user said.

GOB3 EATERS ASSOCIATION ARE DOING WELL FOR GHANA – John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has applauded Ghanaians who support locally produced foods by consuming local beans and gari, also known as “Gob3” or “local beans and gari.”

Enthusiasts of beans and gari also known as Gob3, have given themselves the moniker, the Gob3 Eaters Association referring to the treat as a “savior.”

John Mahama held a public speech on the country’s economic predicament on October 27, 2022, while also outlining some potential answers.

John Mahama praised the Gob3 Eaters Association during his speech and claimed that they were boosting the economy.

“Let us consciously eat more of our local foods like yam. Local grains like maize, rice, our local rice. Cassava beans, gɔbɛ (laughs). Those of you of the Gɔbɛ Eaters Association. You are doing very well for Ghana because you are saving Ghana very important critical foreign exchange,” he said.

During his speech, H.E. John Mahama emphasized the value of consuming products that are produced locally and said that doing so will ease the burden on our currency.

“Aside from the sugar, those who are also eating, the Koko Eaters Association-koose and koko. Apart from the sugar, they are also doing Ghana a good service. This way, we will reduce demand for foreign currency and reduce the pressure on our currency and boost domestic production to create a win-win situation,” said Mr. Mahama.

CeCe Winans Wins 25th Dove Award, Including Artist of the Year: I'm 'Humbled'

For King and Country and writer and producer Jeff Pardo won three times, while CeCe Winans and Anne Wilson won twice during a historic night at the 53rd annual Dove Awards broadcast on TBN Friday.

Winans became the first Black female solo artist to win Artist of the Year, although it was far from her first Dove Award. Winans, who also won a Dove as co-writer for her hit single Believe For It (Song of the Year), has won 25 Dove Awards during her iconic career. She and her brother BeBe Winans won the first New Artist of the Year award in 1988.

When accepting her award for Artist of the Year, she sang To God Be the Glory.

Believe For It was the final song added to her new album, also titled Believe For It, she told media members after the show.

"We were about to end the record, as far as the songs, and [producer Kyle Lee] felt like … we still needed one more. But especially Kyle – I have to give him the credit," she said. "... I'm pretty honored and humbled to be a part of this song, to be part-writer of the song, just to be able to deliver it in a way that would re-energize the faith of God's people."

Believe For It, she said, includes a much-needed message for Christians.

"I felt like especially coming out of the pandemic, that we had to encourage people to keep believing and not to give up," she said. "People had experienced so much pain, had experienced so much loss. And so we wanted to challenge the church to continue to believe in God's Word, because if God said it, and we believe, it is done."

Wilson won New Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. For King and Country won Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year, Short Form Music Video of the Year (Concept) and Long Form Video of the Year. Pardon won three awards, including Producer of the Year.
